Email Woes

For some reason I can't fathom my emails aren't getting through, so if there's anyone out there expecting an email from me, I haven't forgotten you. I've sent it. It's just been swallowed by the void.

Hopefully, it'll sort itself out soon.

Absolute Obedience

Must resist! Absolute Obedience, which is an interactive yaoi computer game, arrived the other day. I'm am being strong and resisting the temptation to engage in pointless game playing pairing up delicious bishonen in the interests of finishing Phantasmagoria. At 60K today, but at least 10K of that is total rubbish.

St Ives

I'm reading Devil's Bride by Stephanie Laurens at the moment. Enjoying it, aside from a few minor points of irritation - locations. I'm from the UK, when a character turns up with the title Duke of St Ives, I imagine this relates to the St Ives most people think of when you say St Ives, ie the place in Cornwall, not some piddling little village down the road from Huntingdon. Sorry, but this particular point completely pulled me out of the book as I tried to ascertain why on earth anyone would travel to Cambridgeshire via St Ives! Grrr. Also hoping that the plot is going to be thicker than it so far appears. I like to be kept guessing... just a little bit... please. But as I said, I am enjoying the read.

Meanwhile, the word count for Phantasmagoria is slowly creeping upwards. I've reached the three quarters mark today - hurray! Still, there's loads to do before then end, and then I can start on the fun bit - polishing. I know some writers love the thrill and the intensity of the first draft, but what I enjoy is making the raw text sparkle. Second and subsequent drafts are where the locations and the characters really come to life. I'm looking forward to that tweaking and not being horribly concerned about getting at least 1K on paper per day.

Ho, ho!

I've rewritten the *scene*.

I know it's about a zillion times better now, because it makes me squirm just thinking about it. Oh, god, and the emotions make far, far better sense now. I want to squeeze both my heroes together and give them an enormous hug.

They deserve one, you know, because I'm such a hideous meanie.

Just Bella to content with again, now...

She's going to slap me!

Silly Quiz Type thing.

I am . . . "THE 2-IN-1 DILDO"

Quiz by William Ted

Yes, like the thoroughly modern two-headed dildo in this picture, you are part of the new frontier of pleasure, the cutting edge of indulgence, the avante-garde of the new Eden. You know exactly how to reach inside people and fuck with them five different ways. And you just love it when they moan and whimper for more with every twitch of your smooth-thrusting wrist.
Some people might see you as a power tripper or an ego clown, since you're always the one at the center of the action, setting people up to make just the right prostate-banging connections with one another. And you don't really like to get wrapped up in all the frantic passion yourself; you much prefer kicking back and watching everything with a sly, slick smirk of satisfaction on your face .

But you're not on a power trip . . . oh, no. You're on a mind trip, an amazing journey of evolution and adventure. You have the awesome gift of being able to take people to places they never imagined they could go. So go ahead and let yourself get all turned on just by turning everyone else on. It's like a service you are providing to the whole human race: Being far too sexy for just one hole.
What do you think, reasonably accurate, given I'm not actually a gay man!

I've been tagged!!!!

Naughty Michelle Pillow has tagged me, tut tut.

THE RULES:
1. Each player starts with eight random facts/habits about themselves.
2. People who are tagged need to write their own blog about their eight things and post these rules.
3. At the end of your blog, you need to choose eight people to get tagged and list their names.
4. Don’t forget to leave them a comment telling them they’re tagged, and to read your blog.

Okay, eight random facts:
1. Tomorrow I'm meeting Portia da Costa and Janine Ashbless for lunch.
2. I have an elaborate code I use in the corner of each page of my notebook, which involves colouring in spider's legs.
3. The same notebook consists of pages which are entirely black.
4. A man once offered to buy me for twelve camels.
5. I detest parsnips.
6. My greatest invention is Grat Gobbo,
7. The second greatest is Spangle Man.
8. I'm convinced that everything I've written this week is complete rubbish.

I aint tagging anyone.

But if anyone wants to join in, you're welcome to count yourself as one of my eight.

Near disaster

Ack! I managed to accidentally delete 12,000 words from my WIP this evening. I have no idea how, they just vanished. Luckily, I had it saved elsewhere, thus narrowly avoiding tears, shrieking and much pulling of hair.

The dreaded scene is nearly done. It would have been done, if I hadn't had to take time out to brush up on chairs of all things. Yep, that was chairs. Still, it's gonna need serious rewrites come draft 2, as it's a veritable muddle of emotions and rampant stupidity and erm... well never mind. Oh, and it's not really a scene anymore, more like a chapter.

NB. Had an idea today for an m/m novella... Like I'm ever going to find the time.

Stasis

Ack! So far today, I've managed a whole 100 words in an hour, and those tidying sentences I'd already written. It's just not good! As you've probably guessed, I'm still plugging away at the mid-point drama/showdown between Lucerne and Vaughan, both of whom need a good kicking... or a good something else (oh, erm... yes... that's what I'm supposed to be writing, isn't it?) Ah, boys, what am I going to do with you both. I may have to find a nice box to lock you both in.

Oh, that reminds me, I had a flash of inspiration last night, after I'd switched the light out, of course, which necessitated switching it on again, while I jigged about in the damn cold trying to locate the pen that is supposed to be by the bedside. I've been seeing the same scene in my head for months, but I couldn't for the life of me work out why it was in that location. It just didn't make sense. Now it makes complete sense *wink*. I love it... it's so visual.

Ah, scuse me a moment. Damn CD player is going crazy...

Hmm, wonder what else I can find to distract myself with? Well, the ever lovely Erastes is guestblogging at Lust Bites today on getting the research right in historical fiction. Very important that. My personal pet peeves are English titles.

Right, I am going to do some work now!

PS. Did I mention the fact that I'm kicking myself for recording over Regency House Party!
