New Wheels!

Kinda...

Due to various life stresses, dreadful weather and a foot injury I've not been getting swimming very much recently, so I've treated myself to an exercise bike. It took a bit of constructing earlier, but it's now assembled and I've already given it a test drive. It's great being able to sit in the warm with my music turned up loud and daydream as I peddle. It certainly beats walking home from the pool with icicles in my hair. I love swimming, but I think I need to wait for warmer weather.

Writing wise, I'm still plodding my way to the end of Fortuna. It feels like a slog at the moment and I'm quite eager to finish and move onto something else. Weird, since this is probably the fastest first draft I've ever done. I'm hoping to finish by the end of next week at the latest, then I'm going to sit on it for a month or so before I go back to it.

Meanwhile, for March I'm gearing up to write some contemporary stories. I've a vampire story to write in time for April to sub to the next BL Wicked Words anthology, and I've a few novella ideas I'm tinkering with, including a m/m one. More on those later... Must try to keep my blog more up to date.

New Black Lace Chat board

We've been mulling it for a while, but finally we've decided to go ahead and give a Black Lace & Cheek message board a try. The idea is to provide a forum where the authors, readers and aspiring authors can mix and communicate, chat about the books, discuss craft, mull the guidelines, and keep up to date with the latest releases.

Click here to join us. And please introduce yourselves.

What Muse are you?

Your Inner Muse is Melpomene

You are most like this muse of tragedy.

While you aren't depressed, you don't shy away from sadness.

Although you do tend to be gloomy, you have a sensitive side.

And this sensitive side helps inspire and help others.

Life is crap...

The universe is crap... Darn, you didn't want happy news did you? It's a tough ol week in Madworld for a whole variety of reasons, and chocolate just isn't doing it.

I'm still battling with Fortuna. Someone has let a large dog loose and I have no idea how my poor hero is going to get away without a very nasty bite...

Meanwhile, here's a happy picture...

Addendum to earlier

I've sorted it. Wasn't nearly as difficult as I'd convinced myself. Thanks for that charging onwards vote, Nikki. It seems to have done the trick.

Hurray! This means I can reward myself by watching Torchwood tonight.

Stumbling Blocks

Gawd am I having a struggle today. I've hit a point in the book where things step up a pace and major disaster looms. The problem is the reasons for it occurring are weak. Although it would perhaps be more accurate to say they are serviceable but need addressing more thoroughly earlier in the book, and I don't want to stop and go back and start rewriting yet. I really want to charge on and get to the end before I start mangling what words I already have on paper. What do other people do at this point, charge on or start butchering? I think I may have to pretend to myself that I've made the necessary changes and continue from this point as if I had. Messy though!

In other news, I'm posting at Lust Bites again today (seem to be doing a lot of that recently), this time about my paranormal novella Broken Angel. Please stop by and leave a comment for a chance to win a copy of Possession (one of three being given away this week.)
