Wicked Lady

I took time out from writing on Thursday night to take in a bit of culture. I'm lucky enough to live fairly close to a theatre, so I off I went to see The Wicked Lady, which is about the diabolical Lady Skelton. While not exactly a likeable character, you can't help feeling sorry for her, stuck with a totally boring husband and a set of in laws who are dead but just haven't realised it yet! Seriously, who can blame her for taking to highway robbery for a bit of fun, or for falling for a dashing charmer...

Anyway, the outing also served as a piece of research for Desperate Measures.

Desperate Measures, which has a totally new title that I love, but ain't sharing yet. I've started rewriting it from scratch, altering the language and the way it slots together. I hope it's working. It's certainly grabbing my interest far more than it was in the past. Have to say that it's more historical and less erotic at the moment, although that element does still remain in parts. Can you tell I've started to enjoy it? I actually like the heroine. I may even stay in her pov for the whole book--now there's a novel thought!

Sadness

I have an invitation to a wake. Need to work out if I can get there. It makes me sad. However, the previous Black Lace party I attended was great fun. Need to make plans...

On hold

Work is very definitely on hold this week. I wish I could say that's because I'm having a well earned break, but actually, it's simply because life keeps throwing obstacles in the way. I've spent most of the week dashing to appointments, in appointments or organising future appointments, and I'm sure there are several important things I'm supposed to have done that I haven't. Hopefully, next week will be better, but I'm not holding my breath because the school holidays are about to begin.

Moving on

So, after last week's shock announcement, I've been busy reassessing my situation and figuring out where to go next. Actually, it hasn't been all that difficult, as all that's really happened is that I have to step up phase one of my world domination plan LOL.

Stuff achieved, so far...

* Changed Enticement (aka the DC) from UK single quotes to US double quotes. This is tedious beyond belief, and takes hours and hours on a 300 pages manuscript.
* Sent it off to agent, along with synopsis and two loosely related short stories.
* Filed Tax Return (relatively painless).
* Had the vaguest smidgen of an idea about four linked Regency set shorts/novellas.
* Have despaired over Desperate Measures (which now has a different title).
* Have despaired over other things too, but largely I find that to be counter-productive and I'm trying to kick the habit.
*Have not eaten any chocolate muffins.

More Pressies in the Post

Sexy Little Numbers has just arrived! And appears as below to have a strange white border. This collection contains my "nice little office romance" Hard at Work, as well as stories by lots of other brilliant folk.
