The Next Big Thing Blog Hop

What is a blog hop? Basically, it's a way for readers to discover authors new to them. I hope you'll find new-to-you authors whose works you enjoy. On this stop on the blog hop, you'll find a bit of information on me and one of my books and links to four other authors you can explore!

Thanks to fellow author Kyoko Church for inviting me to participate in this event. You can click the following link to learn more about Kyoko and her work. Website: http://kyokochurch.blogspot.com.au/

In this blog hop, I and my fellow authors, in their respective blogs, have answered ten questions about our book or work-in--progress (giving you a sneak peek). We've also included some behind-the-scenes information about how and why we write what we write--the characters, inspirations, plotting and other choices we make. I hope you enjoy it!

Please feel free to comment and share your thoughts and questions. Here is my Next Big Thing!

1: What is the working title of your book?

The title is Her Husband's Lover, and I totally love it because it sums the book up so well. I also adore the fact that it can be read in different ways, but that even then it works in terms of the story. I do like titles to work on multiple levels, even if I'm the only person that ever realises that.

2: Where did the idea come from for the book?

Lord Darleston is a secondary character who turned up briefly in Phantasmagoria and then played a more significant part in Three Times the Scandal. He's a character that I've always been drawn to and enjoyed writing about because he's a complex figure. Certainly in the aforementioned books he presents a very rakish, debauched, yet aristocratic image, but this is largely a front for a whole host of personal issues he has to deal with.

By the time we meet Lord Darleston in Her Husband's Lover, his reputation and social standing have already taken a severe knock. He's very conscious of that fact, and wary of making the situation worse, while at the same time desperate to be himself... and be loved as himself.

So, essentially, I wanted to give him a chance of that.

I'd been thinking of writing about a married couple for some time, and this seemed the perfect opportunity. Then, the moment Emma flinched in the opening scene over her sister's skirt brushing against her, I knew it was going to be a bumpy ride.

3. What genre does your book come under?

Historical or Regency Erotic Romance. It's also a menage, which is my very favourite thing to write.

4: Which actors would you choose to play your characters in a movie rendition?

I have no idea, but I'm open to suggestions once people have read the book.

5: What is the one-sentence synopsis of your book?

One sentence - really! I think maybe the title says it all.

6: Is your book self-published, published by an independent publisher, or represented by an agency?

It's published by Mischief Books, which is a sub-division of HarperCollins, and it's out on the 22nd of March 2013

7: How long did it take you to write the first draft of your manuscript?

The book took me around six to seven months to write. I don't really divide things up into first and second drafts as I edit myself as I go along, not moving forward until I'm sure things are how I want them. All I really do at the end is go back and tidy things up, sometimes adding scenes or changing the odd thing around.

8: What other books would you compare this story to within your genre?

I'm not sure there are many books out there that are all that similar, but I suppose the nearest things would probably be Kate Pearce's House of Pleasure series or Samantha Kane's Brothers in Arms series.

9: Who or what inspired you to write this book?

Probably not what you'd expect. The first inspiration for Lord Darleston came from the video for Mizerable by Gackt. The setting, however is inspired by several properties that I've visited, including Shugborough Hall, and Field House, in Shropshire which is owned by the Landmark Trust.

10: What else about your book might pique the reader's interest?

Dastardly deeds, love, mayhem, boxing, a heroine with a touch phobia and a whole lot of merry misdeeds.

Below you will find authors who will be joining me by blogging, next Wednesday. Do be sure to bookmark and add them to your calendars for updates on WIPs and New Releases! Happy Writing and Reading!

Sand and a Shapely Bottom

Fresh through my letterbox this morning, are copies of the print release of Die Entdeckerin, otherwise known as Passion of Isis.

They sport a rather fetching bottom on the cover. German covers always seem to feature at least partial nudity. This is rather tasteful, I think. I do hope the sand doesn't get in too many intimate places though.

And here's the lovely German blurb.

Which basically says that Adie is thrilled to bits to be invited to Egypt to work alongside acclaimed scientist and hotty, Killian Carmichael.

Upcoming Goodies

Time's flying, but there's goodness on the horizon. Or maybe that should be badness, as there are a lot of naughty boys and girls in my forthcoming titles.

Once again my excuse for not posting is that writing takes priority over blogging. It's been a busy start to the year, with two sets of edits on my desk. Her Husband's Lover and Confessions of a Greedy Girl are now with the publisher and soon to hit the stores. Look out for Lord Darleston getting wicked with an ex-lover and his wife in Her Husband's Lover, released 21st March, and Lyssa Payne trying to snag herself some bad boys in Confessions of a Greedy Girl, out 18th April. Just as an aside, Confessions isn't really a confession, it's just part of a themed collection of novellas put together by the publisher.  Lyssa's might have a little thing about having more than one man, but hey, that's what menage was invented for, right?

Meanwhile, I'm hard at work on my next release, currently scheduled for July 2013.

What's it about?

Well, it's about a girl, and a rock star. Their families, expectations, and trust, with a side-order of kinky sex. I'll post more about Xane Geist (who just happens to be Ric from Anything But Vanilla's cousin) and Daniella soon. Maybe, I'll give you a taste of what he's about with the playlist I'm currently listening to while I work. Right now, I need to go and rescue him from the shower.
