I is so sick

Still not at all well. Writing has ceased, I can't be creative when my intestines are tying themselves in knots, as if being ill wasn't vexing enough. Sigh, I'm never going to make my 50K target by the end of January now.

I've woken up feeling really yucky today. Major queasy. I'm hoping it will pass, and it just due to less than adequate sleep. I dreamed I was playing monopoly with my editor while attempting to brainstorm a title for my current WIP. If we came up with one, I don't recall it.

Yesterday I had a break from my rakehells and spent a day concentrating on the girlies. In some respects there's little difference between the two groups, save perhaps that the ladies are not quite so lewd. What is rather unexpected about them is that one character is digging her heels in and demanding a bigger part. I've given her it, largely because it made sense. I've also thought a bit about where it will consequently lead her, which is not where I think most people will suspect.
Still, short of a few lines of notes, I'm pushing her to the back of my mind. I've too many projects I want to work on without another one clamouring for attention. Guess I need to learn to write faster so I don't have quiet such a backlog.

Yaoi at Lust Bites

Lots of nonsense about yaoi posted by yours truly over at Lust Bites today. Head on over and admire the pictures.

Also, I've completely revamped my website, so stop by there and take a peek. That AGW-Phantasmagoria teaser I've been warbling on about is up and hopefully isn't riddled with typos. It is riddled with hot male-male sex!

Some despicable ****** (insert string of expletives) is selling an ARC of Phantasmagoria on eBay. I'm completely incensed. They acquired this copy for review purposes. I get nothing for it. Yet they're making money off my work. To make things worse, it's not even due to be published until the end of April, and it stated quite clearly on the cover NOT FOR RESALE. ARRRRRRGGGGGGGHHHHH! Seriously, you would not believe how furious this makes me. I haven't even had my copies of this book yet!

Naturally, I've informed my editor, and eBay, but we'll see if anything comes of it.

Hope everybody else is having a better day.

What do you know! Update

Twas all good, and has now been tweaked and added to. :-)

I doubt I'm going to complete this baby in 70,000 words. It's becoming far too complicated. Maybe if I took all the sex scenes out. LOL. Except I think they might actually be essential.

What do you know!

Ha! Well, after all that moaning I did yesterday, voila! another 1000 words appeared. Now they may indeed be a 1000 words of drivel, I haven't checked, but they are still a 1000 words I can edit.

Actually, I'm rather afraid of what I might find. I seem to recall letting my rather ribald sense humour out.

Now, back to the grindstone.

I've been doing okay on the WIP for days, but today it seems the coasting is over. Every word is a serious bitch. Admittedly, I have already done my 1K for the day, but I don't feel as if it's much progress, and what I've done need some serious polish.

On another note, the damn thing has also started wandering away from the outline and synopsis I've written. That's no real surprise, I don't think I've ever written a book that didn't, but it's throwing up issues as a result. Things are happening in a different order, mostly sooner than I'd anticipated, which is playing havoc with the timeline.

Argh! And it's raining...

Actually, maybe that's it. Maybe it's just the grey day getting me down.

Still musing whether to enter the Passionate Plumes...hmm...

Read any good books lately?

Actually, yes.

Don't know why, but I didn't really expect to enjoy the Vintner's Luck by Elizabeth Knox, but I did. No surprises with the murderer's identity, but Xas. I love Xas, he's so... Oh, I don't know, but he is! Definitely one for my favourites shelf. Far more of a roller coaster than I ever expected.

Speaking of favourites... I'd kind of drifted away from Let Dai, but I picked it up again, and wow! That meeting and moment of realisation in the rain was brilliant. By the end of the volume I was cursing the fact that I had somehow omitted to order the following volume(s). They'll have to wait a bit now, while I work my way through my Xmas books, by which time Amazon will have no doubt decided to be out of stock again.

Look what the postman brought...

I needed a bit of cheering too!

The cover is far more purple in real life, and quite dark, which I suppose makes the white lettering stand out more. Anyway, it's good to finally have Broken Angel in print. BTW mine's the middle story, and the longest! That'd be because I wrote too much LOL.

Meanwhile, AGW-spinoff proposal is on my editor's desk, probably buried but keep your fingers and legs crossed.

Bustling Birmingham

Lunch today with Mathilde Madden, which as always was lots of fun, but it was strange to meet her and not have a list of suggestions to offer on one of her werebooks, since the series is now complete. She'll have to write something new else what will I have to keep me on my toes. I do enjoy reading other peoples early drafts and commenting upon them, but I have limited time to do so, and I like to know that I'm going to get something that I'm going to enjoy into the bargain. Ah, well, I'm sure she'll have a new project on the go soon.

Meanwhile, we caught up on all the gossip, discovered just how "ultimate" a chicken burger can be, and probably scandalized several of our close neighbours in the somewhat overcrowded pub. Honestly, the place is normally quiet, but today everyone was eating there! We are such trend setters!

Anyway, progress on the 'Three Musketeers' or whatever the hell this book is called is slowly being made. I'm part way through chapter four, which is nearly a third of the book - wow! Sounds good. Really, I feel as if I've barely started, but I do like these characters. They are lots of fun, and there are a couple of scenes later on that I'm really looking forward to writing. You just can't beat a bit of rampant m/m action as a nice backdrop LOL. Not sure my editor will agree.

Anyone care to express any title opinions? Possibilities include:

Fortune's Kiss
Star of Fortune
Fortuna's Star
Free Love
Three Rakehells & a Loose Woman
Hellfire and Damnation!
Something about Crocodilles
