Okay, I know it's two months late, but finally... Headless costume pics from the Victorian weekend I attended in Feb.

This is the End... well, almost.

I'm coming to the end of the Bloody Book. By which I mean that I'm starting to move on from it, despite still having another two and a half chapters to go. It's an odd point. I want to finish. I'm prepared to push myself towards the finish line, but at the same time I can hear new voices calling to me.

I had a notion a while back that I'd write something short after this 100K monster before moving on to Darleston's book or maybe AGW3. Now I'm thinking hold the novella, let's get a proposal done for the sparkly new idea in my head - a late Victorian/Edwardian historical, with not so much as a hint of the erotic in sight. Although there maybe some spooky dooky gothic hah hoo. LOL. We'll see. No firm ideas yet, just a seedling in my head and a man's name. Actually, make that six names...

Complicated stuff.

I've been concentrating on world building the last few day. I know, 90K into the book seems an odd place to focus on logistics, but the world building in question focuses on one very specific aspect of the plot and the actual details of how it all works haven't mattered until this point, hence I've been muddling along on a wing and prayer.

Anyway, the nature of souls and just exactly how demons differ from humans in that regard has now been neatly organised. Who'd have known that my decision way back for everyone to be possessed of two souls would result in such a headache, or have such major implications for the plot.

I'm rubbing my hands together in glee here. Seriously, I love it when all the spaghetti loops in my head unravel and turn out to be one straight line. Love it. Everything fits. I dunno how it works. I really don't, but somehow all the convoluted knots turn out to be nothing at all once you know which strand to pull.

I've named these two souls of my invention the Ti and the Ci'th. Don't ask why because I don't have an answer to that. The names just fit, so I'm using them. Anyway, let me tell you, the way it all works makes the humans addiction to demon dust doubly disturbing, as if it wasn't bad enough to start with. LOL.

Still grinning here...

Oh, and costume pics soon. I promise, as soon as I've cropped people's heads off. Gawd, I'm hopelessly slow these days, aren't I. Forgive me, I'm buried in a book. :)

Passionate Plume Finalist

I realize I've been a bit quiet lately, some of that it due to life mayhem, the last week is because I've been on holiday. Away from home and no writing or internet for a week-- absolute bliss. Of course, I arrived home last night and promptly turned the computer on, had a minor scuffle with the router and opened the WIP. I think I needed the rest, because I managed 1.5K on a scene I've been stuck with.

Anyway, I've also arrived home to tons of email, one of which informed me that I've actual made the final round of a competition. Wow! Wasn't expecting that.

So, Pure Folly is a Passionate Plume Finalist in the novella category. (Insert happy jiggy dance.) The rest of the list is here.
